- Open the image which you want to edit by clipping path.
- Select the “pen tool” from the tool box.
- With the help of the mouse click on the edges of the image which you want to exclude from the images. Click on the edge of the image and drag mouse pointer and hold it. When you can encounter that the outline is on the edge release the button of the mouse. Repeat the process until reach the point from where you have started. Click on the close path and you are completed with the outside path.
- Now draw the paths for the gaps within the image. Create a new path and repeat the process you have done in “point 3”. Stop when you will again reach the starting loop. Fill all the gaps and you are completed with the drawing path. Now eliminate the background.
For applying the clipping path, follow the steps:
- Once you have drawn the drawing path, now you have to apply the clipping path so to exclude the background from the image. Go to the Window menu and from there select the Path icon. You will be able to see the path in “work path” which you have drawn. Save the path by double clicking and then give it a name.
- Now choose the clipping path from the path palette popup menu. When the clipping path is opened in front of you just click OK. Put the softness in the given blank area if you want to bestow your image a soft edge, or else leave that area blank.
The process is completed and you have successfully able to create your own clipping path image. Save the image and you will see that there is no background in the new image.
Removing the background by using the path:
- Go to the “window” menu and select “path” and “layer” for eliminating the background.
- For selecting the path, hold the command or control key from the keyboard and then click on the path from the path palette.
- By holding the command or control key press “J” from the key buttons. By doing this you will be able to get only that part of the image which was inside the path.
