Expectations And Desires

You visualize and plan in your mind how your completed wedding album and framed photos should look like well in advance. Decide whether you want your wedding photography in the traditional black white which has a lasting elegance and sophistication, Black white photographs will never fade when framed and even exposed to light and will last for many generations. On the contrary, color photos may discolor and turn to green with passing of time when subjected to direct light. But color is beautiful and enchanting especially when the wedding is conducted in a colorful, picturesque landscape and favorable weather conditions. Color photos in albums will remain as it is for decades. If your mind longs for colour photography, decide whether you favour the soft touch, usually associated with         or model photography or you prefer crisp, clear and sharp images. Calculate how many prints you may need and what sizes you will prefer. It is also essential to know if you like matte or glossy finish with or without borders and how you envision your wedding album.

Give due weight to your own tastes and preferences. If you have any doubt about your tastes the photographer will help you by showing samples of various formats and approaches. Make enquiries about the lab the photographer deals with and carefully study the examples of actual weddings. Look at the large glitzy show sample on the wall- perhaps these attractive wall samples might have been supplied by labs and not even shot by the studio where you are sitting.

Think deeply about your expectations and convey them to the photographer and ensure that the photographer understands what you want. Be wise enough to appoint some one from the wedding party as the photo –coordinator during the special day to organize the party groups and point out people to be photographed since the photographer does not know your friends and relatives.

Make a visit to the location with the photographer and the photo-coordinator to preview the wedding site. The photographer wants to determine the lighting conditions and become familiar with the overall environments. If you plan to photograph posed groups outside, make arrangements for alternative indoor location in case there is adverse weather conditions. You inform the photographer during the site visit whether you prefer candid “document like event freely with our own eyes” approach or a structured formal posed groups or a combination of both.

The photographer must know the sequence of the activities and who, when, what and where you want to photograph or not to. Since some places of worship bans photography during the ceremony the photographer should not capture images at the time of actual ceremony. In such a situation the photographer should be prepared to attend the rehearsal. If the photographer is allowed to capture during the actual ceremony, this might cause all the guests to pull out pocket cameras with flashes and videos that could be disruptive. Also think if it is important to the bride to get images in her make up room, getting dressed up etc. Such a case requires the presence of a woman photographer.

Nothing more to say, your expectations and desires are high and you wish to have a professional, skilled at the same time an obedient photographer to shoot your wedding day fulfilling all your expectations and desires.
