What will happen if the wedding photographer falls sick and is not able to come on the day? Most of the photographers have a back-up plan in case they fall sick.

Actually most photographers will have a back-up plan if they fall, but you should not think that your photographer also one. Have a detailed discussion on a contingency plan before the wedding. It will be too late if you come to know on the previous night that your photographer has been hospitalized and cannot capture your wedding. If you know a back-up plan is in place already it would not be so stressful and for your information, the chance of such a happening is really quite very rare.

You may be anxious to know how long the photographer will be in the wedding site, if it is unlimited coverage in his/her fee or it is extra to cover the whole day.

You will find that some photographers charge you by the hour; some photographers have packages based on hourly basis such as one, four or six hours, while some will stay until the end of the reception. You must be well aware of the time frame your package includes since extra hourly costs might cause a surprise to you on the special day.

Next you can enquire whether he/she needs a list of the photos that you require.

Most photographers don't ask you a wedding photo list as they will automatically take standard photographs and if you are having a photo-journo style wedding photography, they are taken as "it happens". But you must inform your photographer of any special requests like visiting friends or relatives from abroad. Do not expect he/she will capture everyone. It would be good idea if you arrange a family friend or relative who knows your family and friends, from both sides, to organise the guest photos for you. Give him/her the list and rest assured that everyone would be captured.

Time frames are not the same for all wedding photographers. The couple might have returned from their 2-3 week honeymoon eager to see their photographs only to be disappointed when told they have to wait another 4-5 weeks to see them. Those photographers who have staff at their studio can develop the pictures at a relatively faster time. But other photographers, working alone, will have a lengthier time frame due to demands on computer time, numbers of weddings they have recently photographed and so on. Better get in writing, so clients know up front when to expect their photos.
